Hi! My name is Karen Paik. I am a professional violinist, educator, former concertmaster of BYO (1988) and the mother of two BYO members: one current, and one who will be moving on to college in the fall. Some of you may also remember that I was a viola coach and member of the BYO AiR for the past 3 years before the pandemic. This year I am volunteering as assistant to Tonja Morris, who is BYO’s Scrip coordinator. Having had BYO and music interwoven into my life over more than three decades in a few different facets, I am passionate about the organization, and would love to see it thrive, even in during this difficult season of our lives.
This is where WE come in with Scrip. Scrip is a great way to raise money for BYO at no additional cost to you. Whatever retailers you shop at (Target, TJ Maxx, and Starbucks are my personal favorites, but yours might be Amazon, Best Buy, and CVS!) you can get gift cards for them which would raise funds for BYO.
To be honest, I am not much of a tech person. I prefer keeping things simple, and consequently I hadn’t signed up on Scrip or made a purchase on it until a week ago.
